November 7, 2024

Hello Everyone,

Much of my time since coming to Englewood has been spent building relationships, listening to each of you and reading your surveys where you shared with me what you love about this church and the places that you feel that we have room and need to grow.

I have been processing all this feedback and working to put it together into a set of five-year goals for us to work on together. These ten goals are:

  1. 1. Improve Communication inside and outside of Englewood

  1. 2. Create a new logo/look for Englewood that we and the community recognizes.

  1. 3.Improve our financial health and sustainability

  1. 4. Look for ways to improve building efficiency, maintenance, and use.

  1. 5. Be intentional about creating a wide welcome for our community members.

  1. 6. Expand our ages of engagement.

  1. 7. Create new ministry opportunities to meet the needs of our community.

  1. 8. Develop a leadership training and mentoring program.

  1. 9. Increase our community involvement

  2. 10. Redefine our role with our Disciples of Christ region and ways that we can help partner with other area churches.

None of these goals are going to happen quickly. Rather, these are areas of focus, investment, prayer, and intention that we will be working on through the end of 2029. Each year, we will use these ten big goals to help us set smaller goals and areas of focus and vision.

I am very excited to share with all of you on Sunday, November 17th our vision for ministry here at Englewood for 2025. Our service that day will look and feel different as we celebrate all that the last year has brought and look ahead with excitement and anticipation at what the new year will bring.

In this letter, you will find a response card that gives you an opportunity to respond to our 2025 vision. Please bring this card with you to our Vision Service on the 17th so that as we share about new ministry opportunities and needs, you can respond that day in two ways:

  1. 1. Financial response: Money is a critical reality. Ministry requires resources and our ability to accomplish the goals and vision that we have for the ways that we feel Englewood can and should love out loud are equipped by the budget that we are able to set for the year 2025. I ask you to spend some time considering in what ways you feel called to partner with Englewood Christian Church financially in the new year.

  1. 2. Volunteer Response: The other critical reality of ministry is time and energy that is often needed from volunteers to make a vision a reality. We will be sharing several new ways that you can get involved and serve at Englewood on Sunday, November 17th. This response card will give you a space to name some of the areas that you are interested in learning more about to get more involved in volunteering through our faith community.

If you are not able to join us on Sunday, November 17th in person, we will be sending out our Sunday recap email that will include a link to the service so that you can see and hear the vision that is presented AND a link to a digital response card for you to submit online.

As I have said many times since arriving, I am honored to be here at Englewood. I am committed to honoring our history and our legacy of love in this community. It has been a privilege to spend the last few months listening to the history of this church and all the way that it has been a blessing. I am also very excited about writing the next chapter of Englewood’s story of ministry and community impact together as we move forward into a new year together.

With love,

Pastor Christie
